General

How do I get started?

A NotifySync license can be purchased through the Notify Store. Browse to http://www.notifysync.com and click on the “Buy Now” button.
  • Purchase a license with any number of seats – one seat per user.
  • Once you purchase the license you will receive an Email suitable for distribution to seat holders that gives registration instructions and information.
  • Seat holders can then download/install NotifySync and register their devices.

What are the requirements for using NotifySync?

NotifySync supports ActiveSync protocol versions 2.5, 12.0, and 12.1. For a list of ActiveSync servers supported by NotifySync, see ActiveSync Server Types Supported by NotifySync.

You must have a BlackBerry device running BlackBerry Operating System version, 4.5 Ė 7.0.

Is my information secure when using NotifySync?

Yes. Email, calendar items, contacts, tasks, and memos transferred between the server and devices can be encrypted using SSL (HTTPS). If an SSL certificate is installed on the server, users can enable SSL on the device when they register by checking the Use HTTPS box or through the Account Settings on the NotifySync Preferences menu.

In addition, you can enable data-at-rest encryption for the email database on the device storage disk, through the General Security settings on the NotifySync Preferences menu.
Evaluation (Trial) Licenses

Can I try NotifySync before I purchase it?

Yes. Obtaining a trial license is simple. Go to www.notifysync.com and select Try Now. You may evaluate up to 10 seats for 15 days.

How do I purchase my evaluation license?

If you purchase NotifySync within the 15 day evaluation period you can maintain your license key and you can increase/decrease the number of seats associated with the license. This will allow seat holders to maintain service without having to reregister under a new license. Go to the Returning Customer Portal and enter your license key and reference number. Then select Purchase License.

What is the promotional code?

A Promotional Code may have been given to you by your Notify Technology sales representative. The code may be associated with specific information unique to your company and will expedite the order process.

What if I change my mind about purchasing NotifySync?

You may issue a refund for your NotifySync license from the Returning Customer Portal within 30 days of purchase.
Configuring, Installing, and Registering NotifySync

What is the Domain and ActiveSync Server address? Where can I find that information?

This information defines the external address of your Mail/Exchange Server. It is how NotifySync knows where to connect devices for synchronization. You must enter this information when you purchase your license. When seat holders register, the email address they enter is used to obtain this information for the device. Your best source for this information is your Mail Server Administrator. To help you communicate to your administrator what information is required, refer to the guidelines in the Pre-Purchase Checklist.

I need to install and register NotifySync, but I’ve misplaced my license key and registration instructions. Who can I contact?

The purchaser can send an Email with the request to eStoreSupport_US@globoplc.com. You should be prepared to answer the security question identified when you purchased the license. You can also obtain your License Key by going to the Returning Customer Portal and clicking the Resend My Purchase Confirmation button. An Email will be sent to the contact listed on your license. Registration instructions are located on the NotifySync Resource Portal.

I get the message, "Service Record Not Found," when I select Check for Updates. What is causing this?

NotifySync is attempting to use the default BIS network connection, but your device is not provisioned for BIS. You can change your network setting to TCP or Auto Detect using the Network Settings. This will allow you to complete your download and registration.
  • Open the NotifySync Network Settings and select TCP or Auto Detect as the Preferred Network.
If you wish to use the BIS network connection, contact your carrier and ask them to provision your account for the BlackBerry Internet Service. You can then switch your connection type back to BIS.
Licensing

What is a License Key? What is a Licensed Seat?

When you purchase NotifySync you purchase a key (an alphanumeric code) which gives you license to use the product for one (1) year. The license can be renewed within 30 days of the anniversary of the original purchase date.

Associated with the License Key is the specific number of users who may install and use NotifySync on their BlackBerry device. Each user holds one seat. Example: If you purchase 10 seats you will be able to install NotifySync onto 10 BlackBerry devices. At any time within the license period, you can deactivate a seat and reassign it to another user.

Can I add more seats to my license?

Not exactly... To add more seats you would simply purchase another license. Since the additional license seats will have a different start/renewal date, they need to be under a license separate from your original purchase.

How long is my NotifySync license good for?

Your license is good for one (1) year and can be renewed within the 30 days prior to the anniversary of the original purchase date. Those listed on your license as the purchaser and the technical contact will receive reminder Emails during the renewal period.

How can I obtain a BeamReader license through Notify?

BeamReader™, SLG Mobile, Inc.ís native PDF reader for BlackBerry, can be downloaded via Check For Updates.

In order to activate BeamReader software downloaded via Check For Updates, the license for the product must be purchased through Notify Technology Corporation. The software can, however, be run as a trial until the purchase. BeamReader software may also be purchased via the SLG Mobile, Inc. website.
Managing Your License

How do I renew my NotifySync license when it expires?

Renewing your license can easily be done from the NotifySync Returning Customer Portal. The annual renewal fee, per seat, appears on your Purchase Confirmation.

I need to reassign one of our license seats to another user/device. How do I do that?

  • Deactivate the account from the Returning Customer Portal. This frees up the license seat.
  • Download and install NotifySync on the new device and register it. The NotifySync registration server will obtain the new device PIN.
  • Uninstall NotifySync from the first device via the device's Application Management option. This removes the NotifySync application and all the application data files.

One of our seat holders has a new BlackBerry. How do I move his/her NotifySync account to the new device?

  • Deactivate the account from the Returning Customer Portal. This frees up the license seat.
  • Download and install NotifySync on the new device and register it. The NotifySync registration server will obtain the new device PIN.
  • Uninstall NotifySync from the first device via the device's Application Management option. This removes the NotifySync application and all the application data files.

I need to setup a different NotifySync account on a device previously used for another account. How do I do that?

  • On the device, select the NotifySync icon, then select Preferences > Account Settings.
  • From the Account Settings menu, select Delete Account. This will delete the user account and remove any Email associated with it from the device.
  • Reregister the device with the new user’s information. During the registration process enable synchronization for Calendar, Contacts, Email, and Tasks. Enabling Calendar, Contacts, and Tasks will remove all old PIM data from the device and allow the new user’s PIM data to load and synchronize.

Our mail server information has changed. How do I update the information for NotifySync?

The NotifySync Returning Customer Portal allows you to update server information, should your domain, server address, or Email domain change.

My contact information has changed. How do I update the information?

The person listed as your contact receives license expiration and renewal Emails. You can update the contact name, Email address, phone number, fax number, and challenge question from the NotifySync Returning Customer Portal.
